“Still in the Sky”

Our Art Director Shingo Ohno, also knows as his one-man band “Merce Death” released another unique project recently. He created “Still in the Sky” music video using entirely on his iPhone 4S, while he was in the air flying between Tokyo-Hakata. The music track is available to download on SoundCloud, and video is uploaded on YouTube. It’s so up in the cloud!!

一人バンド、Merce Deathとして知られるW+K Tokyoのアートディレクター大野真吾が、またユニークなプロジェクトを公開しました。「Still in the Sky」と題されたこちらのミュージックビデオは、作曲、撮影、編集、カラー調整など、全てiPhone 4Sのみを使用して製作されました。東京ー博多間のフライトを５０回以上も繰り返し、飛行中にのみ制作作業を行ったこちらの作品は、楽曲をSoundCloudに、映像はYouTubeにアップされる、というまさに「クラウド」な楽曲です。

HULU FIRST JAPAN TV SPOT LAUNCHED

Hulu launched its first major advertising campaign in Japan, titled “the Story Goes On” this week starting with a 30 second TV spot. Stories have been found in the vividly colored cave paintings drawn by Cro-Magnon men dating back tens of thousands of years. They can be found in poetry, theater, Kabuki, animation or film. Regardless of where you live on the planet, stories have always been something we cannot live without. No matter how much our lifestyles change in the future, stories will always enrich our lives. Hulu is the innovation that serves this.

米国カリフォルニア州ロサンジェルスから昨年に日本上陸した映像配信サービスHuluの日本初となる広告キャンペーン、『物語は続く』が2012年4月23日に30秒のTVCFを皮切りにスタート。古くは一万年前にクロマニヨン人が描いた鮮やかな色彩の壁画、詩、戯曲、歌舞伎、アニメーション、映画など、洋の東西を問わず『物語』は人間にとって無くてはならない存在でした。たとえ現代人のライフスタイルがどんなに変化しても、物語は生きることを豊かにする存在でありつづける。そのためのイノベーションとしてHuluが存在する、というアイディアをもとに広告キャンペーンが展開されます。

The TV spot follows the evolution of mankind’s ten thousand year history of story telling compressed into 30 seconds. The spot was directed by Shynola; the renowned London-based directors collective in their first Japanese advertisement. The spot was filmed in London, where prehistoric cave and medieval village environments were built from scratch inside a studio. The TV spot will be followed by train advertisement in 4 major metropolitan areas and web banners for this campaign. So stay tuned.

TVCFでは、人類１万年における壮大な物語の進化の様子が３０秒に圧縮されて描かれています。演出はロンドンを中心にグローバルに活動するディレクター集団Shynola（シャイノーラ）。日本の広告制作にShynolaが関わるのは今回が初めてです。撮影はロンドン近郊のスタジオに、原始時代の壁画と中世ヨーロッパの村の精巧なセットをつくって行われました。以前NHKで放送されていたドキュメンタリー番組『プロジェクトX』の語りで知られる田口トモロヲさんがナレーションを担当しています。TVCFに続いて、国内４エリア（東京、名古屋、大阪、広島）のトレインジャック、そしてwebバナーが展開されていきます。

NIKE Free face

To illustrate the unrivaled flexibility of the new Free footwear, Nike launches ‘Free Face’, a web application that allows you bent, twist and contort its trademark sole using the power of your face. Through technology we don’t understand enough to explain, the site recognizes your face adjusts to your every expression. It also color-coordinates to your clothes and builds a matching Free shoe with NIKEiD. Users can also submit their best face to the Free Face Off; a voting competition in which a weekly winner will win a NIKEiD gift card. That’t pretty much it. Put on your best face. Or your worst.

W+K Tokyoのアカウント・エグゼクティブ、Maiが社内でコーヒースタンドをオープンしました。もう、オフィス全体に良い香りが漂っていて最高です。

April 1st 2011 marked the 30th year since Wieden+Kennedy was founded in Portland, Oregon. To celebrate this special day, all of our offices around the world decided to throw a Founders’ Day event and invite everyone who worked at Wieden+Kennedy. One of our agency’s philosophies is, “Walk in Stupid Every Morning.” So we organized this school reunion of W+K graduates and the current staff to make sure that we can all “STAY STUPID.”

米国オレゴン州ポートランドで創立されたワイデン アンド ケネディが、今年４月１日で３０周年を迎えました。そんな特別な日を祝うべく、これまでにW+Kで働いた全ての人々を招待し、各国のオフィスが一斉にパーティーを開催しました。W+Kのモットーの一つに、「Walk in Stupid Every Morning (毎朝、バカになって出社しろ)」という言葉があります。W+K卒業生たちと現在のスタッフがこれからもStay Stupid (バカであり続ける）ために、まるで学園祭のような同窓会イベントが行われました。
