W+K Tokyo

adlens, oxford and london

Sumiko and Trish took a whirlwind trip to the UK last week to visit new client adlens in Oxford. We were happy to learn we won the business after a pitch, and are fired up to work on with this amazing company and product. adlens (which stands for adaptive lens technology) makes glasses with fluid-filled lenses that are easily adjustable and change power with the turn of a dial.

We visited adlens’ office in Oxford (where they are located in the “old school”) where we learned more about their product, how it is tested and made.

A trip to the UK would not have been complete without a visit to W+K London. Here’s the office in Spitafields – exterior, lobby and illustrations of W+K London peeps.

Here’s the new space recently opened across the street — lots more room.

The night before we arrived, W+K London launched Platform, its new school. Here is the gorgeous Sam Brookes who made it all happen, along with Sumiko and Alex Conaway (also both gorgeous.)

We happily ran into some old friends. Liana Chang formerly of the Shanghai office shown (with Sumiko and Trish), and Chris Wolfe (with Alex and Trish), who we think may be the only W+K person to have worked in every W+K office around the globe, except for Amsterdam.

Another W+K global cocktail happened and created this amazing piece. Jemapur, one of W+K Tokyo Lab’s label artists had an opportunity to do sound design for Onedotzero festival trailer in collaboration with W+K London, who produced an amazing visual work. Onedotzero adventures in motion festival trailer is now complete and is online. 2009 festival theme of “convergence and collaboration” inspired W+K London’s idea to take advantage of onedotzero’s vast fan base and constant, global, online conversations to create this identity. They are harnessing and bringing together these live conversations from a diverse range of conversational sources (Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, Facebook and blogs). Great work Jemapur and big thank you for London folks!
