Under water

Yesterday’s typhoon created an unexpected water feature at W+K Tokyo. The waterfall was entertaining at first … until we realized it wasn’t stopping, and the drains weren’t working.

Before we knew it, water was knee-deep in the basement patio …

… we tried to block the doors to Studio, but we couldn’t stop the flood. Studio was filled with ankle-deep water which made its way all the way back to the server room. Luckily we were able to unplug all the computer equipment and lift it off the floor.

The bucket brigade helped bail us out as much as possible before we were able to get proper vacuum pumps in to get rid of the rest of the water.

Good news is that all the computers and server are working. Bad news is that Studio’s going to be displaced for awhile so we can replace all the cabling and floors downstairs.

Here’s hoping typhoon season is over. Thanks to all our clients for bearing with us yesterday while we were temporarily out of commission!

So, our mash up experiment most definitely shook things up and changed the game on September 2nd. “Nike Sportswear presents MORE THAN THE BEAT – Awakening Tokyo Running” was held last Thursday with some amazing results. It recorded the highest number of viewers of the night. Many viewers commented on how deep and intriguing the talk session with Jun Takahashi, Dai Tamesue and DEXPISTOLS was. Brian Burton Lewis was an amazing host. A very deep music crowd was moved by the event concept of the running x music mash up. There were many tweets about how “amazing,” “unthinkable,” and “mind blowing” the approach was. We were so thrilled to be able to write a part of this new page of the social media history by remixing Ustream live streaming, twitter and sport.

いよいよ明日。ランニングと音楽、リアルとバーチャル、オーセンティックなブランドと世界に誇る東京カルチャーの融合。Nike Sportswearが常に上を目指す姿勢を体現するために提案するGame Changersをコンセプトに、唯一無二の体験が明日、2010年9月2日に開催されます。

Nike Sportswear presents MORE THAN THE BEAT -覚醒スル東京ランニング

ウェブ上で配信される音楽チャンネルDOMMUNEとのコラボレーションにより、今回のイベント用にカスタマイズされたチャンネルで、19:00から24:00までDJプレイとナイトランが生で配信されます。カルチャー系雑誌、WARPを通して集まった参加者はいったん、NIKE原宿に集合。そこから、DOMMUNEのスタジオまで実際にナイトランを体験してもらいます。もちろん、DOMMUNEスタジオでは生のゲストトークショーとDJプレイを体験できます。DJはNike Sportswearのグローバルキャラクターも務めるDEXPISTOLS。

DEXPISTOLSがランナーを応援するというテーマで行うDJプレイ。応援してもらうのだから、実際に走ってもらわない手はないということで、数人の希望者を募り、実際に原宿、恵比寿エリアを走り、Game Changersの仲間入りしてもらう企画もあります。イベント終盤では、実際にチャレンジを完遂してGame Changersの仲間入りした彼らを盛大にセレブレイト。

It’s tomorrow! We’re going to mash up Running and Music. Real and Virtual. We’re going to mash up Nike’s authenticity in sport with Tokyo’s world leading cutting edge night life culture. Nike Sportswear introduces a one and only experience to Tokyo city on September 2nd 2010. The event showcases Nike Sportswear’s concept of Game Changers with: “Nike Sportswear presents MORE THAN THE BEAT – Awakening Tokyo Running.”

Collaborating with DOMMUNE, the web based music Ustream channel, we create our own customized channel at their site from 19:00 to midnight. You can see DJ’s play and night running live. We gather consumers at Nike Harajuku store through cultural magazine, WARP and have them experience a Tokyo night run to the DOMMUNE studio where they join the guest talk and live DJ session of Nike Sportswear global icon, DEXPISTOLS.

The DEXPISTOLS set will be designed to drive runners so why not we get consumers out there to run listening to their play. We will have several guys to run around the Harajuku, Ebisu area to join the game changers. Once they completed their challenge, we celebrate the new members of the Game Changers “family” at the end of the event.

They introduced us the theory behind HITSPAPER and the variety of projects HITSFAMILY is involved. And all the girls were super excited to see daisy balloon’s balloon dress and balloon bouquet! They were gorgeous. Thank you so much for coming HITSFAMILY! Maybe we’ll see you guys on the rooftop with beers!
