Street art for Tohoku

The artist Naomi Kazama visited us at W+K Tokyo to deliver something very special. Naomi just launched a charity project for the people affected by the disaster in Tohoku titled “YES People.” Each of his silk posters is handmade, and the profits will be donated to people in the Tohoku region. Naomi, also known as SOUTH has been heavily involved with experimental street art since the 90’s. He established a legendary art space in Nakameguro, Tokyo called “DYEZU EXPERIMENT” and contributed a great deal to the understanding of street art here in Japan. We are moved by his “YES People” project and have posted his art work in our front entrance. W+K Tokyo continue to hope that the light of hope will reach the people in Tohoku as soon as possible. アーティスト、Naomi Kazamaが、ある届け物を届けにW+K Tokyoオフィスにやってきました。彼は現在、東北大震災に対して”YES People”というチャリティープロジェクトを立ち上げ、一枚一枚手作りしたシルクポスターの売り上げを募金する活動を行っています。Naomi氏 a.k.a. SOUTHは90年代からアートとは実験であると考え、独自の表現を始めました。伝説的アートスペース「大図実験」を中目黒に展開するなど、数々のストリートアートの実験的活動を行いながら、日本におけるストリートアートへの理解と普及に多大な貢献を果たしました。私たちは、彼の”YES People”の活動に賛同し、そのポスターをオフィスのエントランスに貼りました。W+K Tokyoは、いまだ厳しい状況が続く東日本の多くの方々へ、一日でも早く希望の光が届くことを祈り続けています。彼のホームページはこちらです。

ADFEST, the largest advertising festival in Asia Pacific, has awarded W+K Tokyo “Interactive Agency of the Year”, along with many other awards in the following categories.

GOOGLE MUSIC MIXER / BRONZE (best use of online video)

We are very proud of this news, and we are fortunate to have such great clients as partners that inspire us to do this work. These awards remind us to never stop moving forward. We will continue to work to support Japan the best we can. Our thoughts are always with those most severely affected by the earthquake on 3.11.

 

New Face in da house!
